Sunday @ Amici

Finally it's Sunday, our usual not-guilty-to-be-lazy day. But what's unusual was we got up pretty early and didn't have a big breakfast as we would always have. So we decided to go out for a nice Sunday lunch at one of our favorite restaurant 'Amici by Pomodoro' in Siam Paragon. We ordered Spinach salad with River prawn and porcini mushroom, Seafood soup and risotto. We sat there for a while, indulged the atmosphere and our drink then there's a family of parent with 2 kids and a baby plus 2 nannies entered into our peaceful moment. They were incredibly noisy so much that took me over the roof. But obviously there didn't annoyed just only me when a foreigner next to us started talking on a phone and told the end of the line what's going on here. He said it's impossible for him to find a nice and quiet restaurant in the shopping mall then there's a family on the back with 3 kids started making noise which pissed him off now. The scene didn't over yet when the mother who couldn't stand of what she just heard got furious and started a verbal abuse to a poor old farang man, "Do you have a problem with family?....Why don't you go back home huh?....You'll die rotten!! You'll die rotten alone!! F@#k you!!...You know...F@#k you!!" and blah blah blah. The manager, staffs and customer were shocked and eventually the manager had to ask a poor man out while he were still on his phone. The father came back into the scene from somewhere and didn't seem to care much or less of what just happened. We felt sorry for that man and pity for that woman. She didn't realize that her kids really did irritate the other customer but it's the customer's fault who couldn't stand of her children. That's purely Thai-Chinese spoiled brat who couldn't accept their own fault but the other. There were a couple times when a family comes with kids and they're noisy or cry in the restaurant but parent doesn't seem to care or respect any other customers who just want to appreciate a peaceful meal. That man was right, it's tough to find a quiet restaurant in Bangkok's shopping mall especially on Sunday. Next time, you'd better stay in the hotel and order room service(I assume he's on his business trip or holiday trip since he didn't seem to know much about Thais; "I couldn't believe Thais could be louder than Chinese!", that's what he said.).
Back to the food, since the kids're eating so the nice and quiet restaurant were back on track again. We had to admire the effort of one waiter who always tried to sell special of the day menu which was 'Rocket salad with River prawn' because while we were sitting there we couldn't count the amount of that special menu flying around the restaurant. It was indeed special, imagine a big river prawn in your plate with some rocket, porcini and crispy bacon with a gentle touch of a balsamic dressing. It's heavenly yummy and pricy! Boy, that will be the last time you could sell me 'Rocket salad with River prawn'! I used to order 'seafood soup' before and it's still as good as I remember with a big chunk of fish, mussels, squids, prawn and clamps in a tomato soup and a piece of garlic bread on top. We didn't have dessert but he had an espresso.
It wasn't a bad Sunday lunch but probably we have to find somewhere else for the next time. "Arrivederci, Amici."
